Papé Group buys Roberts Motor Co.

Portland-based Roberts Motor Co., which sells and services tractor-trailer parts and equipment, sold its operations, including a facility in Redmond and three others in Oregon, last week to Eugene-based Papé Group Inc. for an undisclosed price.  As required by law, the company gave 60 days notice of layoff last month to its 162 statewide employees, who are being asked to reapply for their positions so that they can be rehired by Papé when the transaction is completed March 14, said Dan Hollingshead, executive vice president of the Papé Group.  Papé, which operates a John Deere equipment dealership in Bend, will expand the Redmond facility from its current total of five employees when the economy allows, Hollingshead said.
